07-30-1992 Charter Commission Regular MeetingMinutes of the Hopkins Charter Commission July 30, 1992. The Hopkins Charter Commission met on July 30, 1992. Present were Warren Woodrich, Ethel Wonson, William Arimond, Dorothy Boen, Archie Black, Paul Lund, and Paul Ahles. City Clerk Jim Genellie was also present. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. The minutes of the April 23, 1992 meeting were approved. The Commission next discussed adoption of the proposed Charter Commission by-laws. The Commission voted to amend the proposed by-laws as follows: Article III, Section 1 was amended by adding the language "appointed by the Chief Judge of the district court pursuant to state law. Article III, Section 5 was amended as follows: "Resignation from the Commission by any member must be submitted in writing to the Mayor Chairman for consideration by the Commission at its next meeting. Article V, Section 2 was amended to change the requirement for mailing written notice of meetings from seven days to ten days. The Commission then voted unanimously to adopt the by-laws as amended. The next item of business was a discussion of Ordinance #92-714. A motion was made and seconded to change the dollar amount in Section 6.06 from $5,000 to $15,000 and in Section 6.07 from $15,000 to $25,000. After considerable discussion the motion and second were withdrawn. A motion was then made and seconded to keep the dollar amounts in Sections 6.06 and 6.07 at $5,000 and $15,000 respectively. This motion was approved. A motion was then made and seconded to approve Charter Commission Resolution #92-1 recommending, to the City Council, that the Hopkins Charter be amended by Ordinance #92- 714. This motion was approved unanimously. Chairman Woodrich then thanked the Commission members for their efforts in amending the City Charter. There being no further business the Commission adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
