Minutes of the Hopkins Charter Commission
May 16, 2000
The Hopkins Charter Commission met on April 25. Present were Commission members: Robert
Anderson, Marjorie Hance, Henry Pokorny, James Shirley, Harry Smith, and Warren Woodrich.
Assistant City Manager Jim Genellie was also present.
The meeting was brought to order at 7:27 p.m.
Approval of the Minutes of the Previous Meeting.
The Commission approved the minutes of April 25, 2000.
Reports.
There were no reports.
Old Business
The Commission considered Resolution 2000-1, recommending the adoption of Ordinance 2000-
840 by the City Council. Ordinance 2000-840 would establish the authority for the Council to
adopt administrative citations and allow administrative penalties to be assessed.
Commissioner Smith moved and Commissioner Hance seconded the motion to adopt Resolution
2000-1. The vote was unanimous.
The Commission considered Resolution 2000-2, recommending the adoption of Ordinance 2000-
843 by the City Council. Ordinance 2000-843 would amend the Charter to require a special
election if there is more than two years remaining in a term when a Council vacancy occurs.
Commissioner Pokorny moved and Commissioner Smith seconded the motion to adopt
Resolution 2000-2. The vote was unanimous.
The Commission set its next meeting for April 24, 2001 at 7:00 p.m.
