RECOMMENDED ACTION
MOTION TO Authorize Mayor and City Manager to approve Permanent Utility
Easement for Sanitary Sewer and Communications Fiber Line in Meadowbrook Golf
Course
OVERVIEW
The City of Hopkins has an existing sanitary sewer mainline through Meadowbrook Golf
Course, owned by the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (MPRB). The sewer main
connects to an existing City of Hopkins lift station near the intersection of Louisiana
Avenue and Excelsior Boulevard.
To provide more reliable utility services, the City has started connecting all wells and lift
stations to the City’s fiber network. In design of the fiber network connection, it was
discovered that the sanitary sewer easement through Meadowbrook Golf Course was a
temporary easement that expired in the 1990’s. To rectify this, Staff has worked with
MPRB to establish a permanent utility easement for the City’s sanitary sewer main and
Communications Fiber Line.
