02-03-2015 Work Session after City Council MeetingMINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Tuesday, February 3, 2015
Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 8:30 pm. Present at the meeting were the
following:
x City Manager Mike Mornson x Kristi Halverson, Mayor Pro Tem
x Jason Gadd, Council x Aaron Kuznia, Council
x Molly Cummings, Council x Steve Stadler, PW Director
Council Members Gadd and Cummings talked about the presentation that they did at the League
Conference. The Hopkins information was well received by well over 100 other cities.
The City Council would like to do an interactive activity with Citizen Academy.
Public Works Director Stadler updated council on Cottageville Park and Met Council Lift
Station.
City Manager Mornson provided the following updates:
• Mr. Mornson went over some possible zoning changes to the industrial district that will
be presented to by staff in the next two months.
• Mr. Mornson discussed his goals with council for 2015. City Manager testified at the
Capital on February 3, 2015 about new laws that could have a positive impact to
Hopkins.
• Mr. Mornson stated that the Charter Commission will have a meeting next Tuesday to
discuss raising the filing fees for the city council candidates.
• Mr. Mornson stated that at a future council meeting we may hear about a presentation
about solar panels placed at the landfill site.
There being no further business to come before the City Council and upon a motion by
Halverson, seconded by Council Member Kuznia the meeting was adjourned by unanimous
consent at 9:10 p.m.
