02-17-2015 Work Session after City Council Meeting MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING Tuesday, February 17, 2015 Mayor Pro Tem Halverson called the meeting to order at 8:20 pm. Present at the meeting were: x City Manager Mike Mornson x Kristi Halverson, Mayor Pro Tem x Jason Gadd, Council x Aaron Kuznia, Council x Molly Cummings, Council x Steve Stadler, PW Director x Nate Stanley, City Eng. x Mike Reynolds, Police Chief x Jim Genellie, Asst. City Mgr. x Meg Beekman, Com. Dev. Coordinator x Kersten Elverum, PED Dir. Council Member Kuznia stated he toured the operation and maintenance facility. Police Chief Reynolds provided an update on items that police will be working on to improve security in city buildings. In addition, Mr. Reynolds talked to council and staff about what happens when an active shooter shows up at a public meeting. Council had questions for Mr. Reynolds after the presentation. Staff stayed for this presentation. City Manager Mike Mornson provided the following updates: • Mike discussed Citizen Academy Alumni event date with council. He suggested either April 2nd or May 28th. He also discussed the topics. • Mike informed council of meeting with school and watershed district. • Mike mentioned that Cottageville Park is proceeding as planned. He stated that a ribbon cutting before construction starts sometime in the spring will probably be scheduled. • Mike mentioned that he will be attending his second non-profit meeting on the 25th of February at the Shepherd of the Hills church. • Mike stated that the new architecture business is planning on opening in the middle of March. They are planning on having a ribbon cutting but not sure of day or time yet. • Mike provided update on Jap Olsen project. • Mike reminded council about the assessors coming in April for a sales review. • Council asked Mike to look into ordinance and survey other cities regarding council and mayor wages. • Mike reviewed a 4 page goals booklet he plans to present to various organizations throughout the city. There being no further business Council Member Cummins moved and Council Member Gadd seconded a motion to adjourn. The meeting was adjourned by unanimous consent at 9:15 pm.
