RESOLUTION NO. 77-2555
411 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING ELECTION DISTRICTS AND POLLING
PRECINCTS IN THE CITY OF HOPKINS AND REPLACING RESOLUTION
NO. 76-2547.
WHEREAS, it is necessary, expedient and required, that the City of Hopkins be
divided into nine (9) election districts for all elections to be held in the City after
the effective date of this Resolution, and that a polling precinct be designated in
each district.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HOPKINS,
MINNESOTA: That the City be divided into nine (9) election districts as hereinafter
set forth, and that the polling precinct in each such district be as follows: to-wit:
DISTRICT NO. 1 - All that part of the City of Hopkins lying within the area described
as follows: beginning in the centerline of State Highway #7 where it intersects with
the centerline of Blake Road North, thence Westerly along the centerline of State
Highway #7 to the centerline of 5th Avenue North; thence running South along the center-
line of 5th Avenue North to the centerline of Second Street North; thence East along
the centerline of Second Street North to the centerline of Park Lane, thence South along
the centerline of Park Lane to the centerline of Ridgewood Drive; thence East and North
0 along the centerline of Ridgewood Drive to the centerline of Second Street North, thence
East along the centerline of Second Street North to the centerline of Washington Avenue
North; thence South along the centerline of Washington Avenue North to the R/W of the
Chicago & Northwestern Railroad ; thence Northeasterly along the Chicago & North-
western R.R. R/W to the centerline of Tyler Avenue North; thence North along the center-
line of Tyler Avenue North to the centerline of Lake Street Northeast; thence East
along the centerline of Lake Street Northeast to the centerline of Blake Road North;
thence North along the centerline of Blake Road North to State Highway #7. Polling
Precinct: ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH- 241 - 5th Avenue North.
DISTRICT NO. 2. - All that part of the City of Hopkins lying Southerly of the Chicago &
Northwestern Railroad R/W, and Easterly of the centerline of Washington Avenue South.
Polling Precinct: HARLEY HOPKINS SCHOOL - 125 Monroe Avenue South.
DISTRICT NO. 3.- All that part of the City of Hopkins lying within the area described
as follows: Beginning in the centerline of Washington Avenue where it intersects with
the centerline of Excelsior Avenue, thence West along the centerline of Excelsior Avenue
to the centerline of 21st Avenue, thence North along the centerline of 21st Avenue
100 feet more or less to the City limits, thence West, South and Southeast along the
Westerly City limits to the centerline of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific
Railroad R/W, thence Northeasterly along the centerline of the C.M. St. P. & P. Railroad
R/W, to the centerline of 14th Avenue South, thence South along the centerline of 14th
Avenue South to the centerline of 7th Street South, thence East along the centerline of
7th Street South to the centerline of Washington Avenue South, thence North along the
centerline of Washington Avenue South to the centerline of Excelsior Avenue. Polling
Precinct: HOPKINS CITY HALL - 1010 First Street South.
DISTRICT NO. 4. - All that part of the City of Hopkins lying within the area described
as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the centerline of State Highway #7, with
the centerline of 17th Avenue North, thence East along the centerline of State Highway
#7, to the centerline of 13th Avenue North, thence South along the centerline of 13th
Avenue North to the centerline of the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad R/W, thence North-
west along the centerline of the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad R/W to the centerline
of 14th Avenue North, thence South along the centerline of 14th Avenue North to the
centerline of Excelsior Avenue, thence West along the centerline of Excelsior Avenue to
the centerline of 21st Avenue, thence North, Northwest, and Northeast, along the center-
line of 21st Avenue and the Westerly City limits to the intersection of 17th Avenue
North and State Highway #7. Polling Precinct: KATHERINE CURREN SCHOOL - 1600 Excelsior
Avenue West.
DISTRICT NO. 5. - All that part of the City of Hopkins lying Northerly of the centerline
of Highway #7. Polling Precinct: UNITED METHODIST CHURCH - 717 Highway #7.

DISTRICT NO. 6. - All that part of the City of Hopkins lying within the area described
as follows: Beginning at the centerline of State Highway #7 where it intersects with
the centerline of 13th Avenue North, thence East along the centerline of State Highway
4110 #7 to the centerline of 5th Avenue North, thence South along the centerline of 5th Avenue
North to the centerline of Second Street North, thence West along the centerline of
Second Street North to the centerline of the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad R/W, thence
Northwest along the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad R/W to the centerline of 13th Avenue
North, thence North along the centerline of 13th Avenue North to the centerline of
State Highway #7. Polling Precinct: ALICE SMITH SCHOOL - 801 Minnetonka Mills Road.
DISTRICT NO. 7. - All that part of the City of Hopkins lying within the area described
as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the centerline of 14th Avenue North with
the centerline of the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad R/W, thence Southeasterly along
the centerline of the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad R/W to the centerline of Second
Street North, thence East along the centerline of Second Street North to the centerline
of Park Lane, thence South along the centerline of Park Lane to the centerline of
Ridgewood Drive, thence Northeasterly along the centerline of Ridgewood Drive to Second
Street North, thence East along the centerline of Second Street North to the centerline
of Washington Avenue North, thence South along the centerline of Washington Avenue North
to the centerline of Excelsior Avenue, thence West along the centerline of Excelsior
Avenue to the centerline of 14th Avenue, thence North along the centerline of 14th
Avenue North to the centerline of the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad R/W. Polling
Precinct: HOPKINS LIBRARY - 22 - 11th Avenue North.
• DISTRICT NO. 8. - All that part of the City of Hopkins lying Southerly of the following
described line: Beginning at the centerline of 7th Street South where it intersects
with the centerline of Washington Avenue South, thence West along the centerline of
7th Street South to the centerline of 14th Avenue South, thence North along the center-
line of 14th Avenue South to the centerline of the Chicago & Milwaukee, St. Paul &
Pacific Railroad R/W, thence Southwesterly along the centerline of the Chicago & Milwaukee,
St. Paul & Pacific Railroad R/W, to the West City limits. Polling Precinct: WESTBROOKE -
823 Old Settlers Trail.
DISTRICT NO. 9. - All that part of the City of Hopkins lying North of the Chicago &
Northwestern Railroad R/W; and East of the following described line: beginning at the
intersection of the centerline of Tyler Avenue North with the Chicago & Northwestern
Railroad R/W; thence North along the centerline of Tyler Avenue North to the centerline
of Lake Street Northeast ; thence East along the centerline of Lake Street Northeast to
the centerline of Blake Road North; thence North along the centerline of Blake Road
North to the City limits. Polling Precinct: OAKS PARK SHELTER BUILDING - 900 Lake Street
Northeast.
Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Hopkins, Minnesota, at a regular
meeting held the 18th day of January, 1977.
