77-433 CITY OF HOPKINS HENNEPIN COUNTY ORDINANCE NUMBER 77-433 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 100 OF THE 1973 G 1977 CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF HOPKINS PERTAINING TO CITY CONTRACTS BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Hopkins as follows: That Sections 100:30, 100:35, and 100:40 be and the same are hereby repealed and there is hereby enacted in lieu and in place thereof the following: Section 100:30. CONTRACTS OVER $10,000.00. If the amount of the con- tract is estimated to exceed $10,000.00, sealed bids shall be solicited by public notice in the manner and subject to the requirements of the law governing contracts by the particular municipality or class thereof provided that with regard to repairs and maintenance of ditches, bids shall not be required if the estimated amount of the contract does not exceed the amount specified in Section 410 106.471, Subdivision 2. Section 100:35. CONTRACTS FROM $5,000.00 to $10,000.00. If the amount or the contract is estimated to exceed $5,000.00 but not to exceed $10,000.00, the contract may be made either upon sealed bids or by direct negotiation, by obtaining two or more quotations for the purchase or sale when possible, and without advertising for bids or otherwise complying with the requirements of competitive bidding. All quotations obtained shall be kept on file for a period of at least one year after receipt thereof. Section 100:40. CONTRACTS LFSS THAN $5,000.00. If the amount of the contract is estimated to be $5,000.00 or less, the contract may be made either upon quotation or in the open market, in the discretion of the governing body; but, so far as practicable, shall be based on at least two quotations which shall be kept on file for a period of at least one year after receipt thereof. That this Ordinance is adopted in conformity with the Minnesota Uniform Municipal Contracting Law, and with Section 6.06 of the Charter of the City of Hopkins.
