78-446 CITY OF HOPKINS HENNEPIN COUNTY 110 ORDINANCE NUMBER 78-446 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 960 OF THE 1977 CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF HOPKINS AS TO HUMAN RIGHTS BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Hopkins as follows: That Section 960:00 is hereby amended as follows: SECTION 960:00. DECLARATION OF POLICY AND PURPOSE. It is the public policy of the City of Hopkins to assure to and for all persons freedom from discrimination because of race, color, creed, religion, ancestory, national origin, marital status, disability, status with regard to public assistance, sex, or age in all matters respecting employment, labor union membership, housing, property rights, education, public services, and accommodations, which discriminations may threaten or curtail the rights, privileges, opportunities, freedom and equality of all persons, and menaces the institutions and founda- tions of democracy and liberty. It is also the policy of this City to protect all persons from unfounded charges of discrimination. The opportunity to • obtain employment, housing, property, both real and personal, and full and equal utilization of public accommodations, services, and educational insti- tutions and opportunities without discrimination as above set forth, are recognized as human rights in any free society. A Commission on human rights to enforce the above policy by any lawful means including, but not limited to, public information, education, mediation and conciliation, and enforcement of human rights, is among the purposes of this Ordinance as hereinafter created. That Section 960:10 is hereby amended by adding to and including in each and all of the subdivisions thereunder the words: "disability, status with regard to public assistance, marital status, and age, all as defined in M.S.A. Chapter 363", wherever any listing of unfair discriminatory acts appears. First read at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Hopkins held on April 18, 1978, and finally read, approved, adopted and ordered published at a regular meeting of said Council of said City on May 2, 1978.
