08-03-2015 Work Session after City Council Meeting MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Tuesday, August 3, 2015
Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 8:20 p.m.
Present at the meeting were the following:
x Eugene Maxwell, Mayor x Kristi Halverson, Council
x Jason Gadd, Council x Aaron Kuznia
x Molly Cummings, Council x Mike Morrison, City Manager
x Meg Beekman, PED x Steve Staler, Public Works Director
x Kersten Elverum, PED Dir.
Ms. Elverum provided update on SWLRT project. Municipal consent will occur on September
15th for Hopkins. Council was ok having staff explore steps for Blake area as long as grant funds
are a possibility.
Manager Mornson provided the following:
• Discussed with the Council their interest in seeking RFP's for the city attorney's services
for 2016. Council felt it was ok to seek RFP's for legal services. Mike will work with
staff to start the process.
• Reviewed next week's work session with council as well as updated them on
development and street projects.
• Discussed the plan for the Art Center use of the Masonic Lodge donation. Council asks
for more reports from Art Center staff.
• Updated the employee vacancies. We have several vacancies that will be filled in the
next four months. Two police officers, community liaison employee, City Planner and
Assistant to the City Clerk.
• Council conducted a performance review of City Manager.
There being no further business to come before the Council and upon a motion by Cummings,
seconded by Kuznia, the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 9:50 p.m.
