RESOLUTION NO. 2016-023
RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE NINE MILE CREEK REGIONAL
TRAIL HENNEPIN COUNTY BIKEWAY GRANT REQUEST
WHEREAS Three Rivers Park District and the City of Hopkins desire to complete the
final gap of the Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail along;
WHEREAS completion of the regional trail gap will occur as part of the City's road
reconstruction project along 9th Avenue South and 7th Street South; and
WHEREAS the Park District is requesting grant funds from the Hennepin County
Bikeway Grant Program for the completion of the regional trail gap and, if successful,
intends to pass the grant funds directly to the City for its use in completing the regional
trail gap as part of the road reconstruction project; and
WHEREAS the City supports the Park District's Hennepin County Bikeway Grant
application and agrees to accept said funds and enter into a grant agreement directly with
the County if the Park District is successful in its efforts; and
WHEREAS the City has the institutional, managerial and financial capability to ensure
adequate project administration for any grant funds received; and
WHEREAS the City certifies that it will comply with all applicable laws and regulations
as stated in the contract agreements;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that, after appropriate examination and due
consideration, the governing body of the City supports the Park District's Hennepin
County Grant Application for the final gap in the Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail and
agrees to accept said grant funds and enter into a grant agreement directly with the
County, and that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute such agreements as
are necessary to implement the project on behalf of the City, if the Park District is
successful in its efforts.
