A RESOLUTION APPROVING INTERIM ORDINANCE 201G-1118 REGARDING THE
REGULATION OF PAWNSHOPS, CURRENCY EXCHANGES AND COIN
DEALERSHIPS.
WHEREAS, the City of Hopkins initiated an applicadon to consider an iaterim ordinance regarding
the regulation of pawnshops, currencJ eachanges and coin dealerships.
WHEREAS, the procedural histor}� of the application is as follows:
The application to consider an inrerim ordinance regarding the regulation of pawnshops,
currenc}� e�chan�es and coin dealerships �vas initiated b}' the Ciry of Hopl;ins on December
9, 2016;
2. The Citp Council of the Citc oF Hopkins reviewed this applicadon and ordinance during the
Decembex 20, 2016, City� Council meeting; and,
3. The written comments and analysis of City° staff were considexed.
WHEREAS, Subdivision 4 of Minnesota Scatutes, Secuon 462.355, allows cities to adopt an interim
ordinance for the purpose of protecting the planning process and the health, safet�� and welfare of its
citizens; and,
WHEREAS, an interim ordinance mat' re�;ulate, restrict or prohibit an�� use, development or
subdivision within the Ciq� for a period not to ewcecd o�e }'ear from tl�e effecuve date of the ioterim
ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the Cit}' of Hopkins hereb}�
approves lnterim Ordinancc 2016-1718 regarding the regulanon of pawnshops, currencp e�changes
and coin dealerships within the Ciq� of Hoplcins pursuant co Minnesota Stamte 462355, Subdivision
4.
