RESOLUTION NO. 2002-56
RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING ON
MODIFICATION OF REDEVELOPMENT PLAN
FOR REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT NO.1
WHEREAS, the City and the Housing and Redevelopment Authority in and for the City of
Hopkins ("Authority") have proposed to undertake a redevelopment project in the City under
Minnesota Statutes, Section 469.001 to 469.047 (the "BRA Act"), in order to facilitate
redevelopment of certain property in the City for use as a City fire station, public works facility and
police station (together, the "Community Facilities"); and
WHEREAS, a portion of the planned Community Facilities are located in the Authority's
existing Redevelopment Project No. 1 (the "Project") and a portion are located adjacent to the
Project; and
WHEREAS, the Authority has requested that the City Council consider a modification to
the redevelopment plan ("Plan") for the Project in order to expand the boundaries of the Project and
to authorize the construction and financing of the Community Facilities by the Authority in
cooperation with the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined a need to hold a public hearing regarding the
Plan modification in accordance with the BRA Act;
that:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hopkins,
1. City staff are authorized and directed to prepare a notice for publication in the City's
official newspaper setting a public hearing before the City Council on Tuesday, July 2,2002 at 7:30
p.m. in the council chmnbers regarding the modification to the Plan. The notice shall be published
in the newspaper at least 10 but not more than 30 days prior to the public hearing, and shall be in
substantially the form attached hereto.
2. Staff is authorized to take such other actions as are needed to facilitate approval and
implementation of the Plan as modified.
