06-20-95n ~ A regular meeting of the Hopkins City Council met on June 20, 1995 in the Council ~+A~t~ers of Hopkins City Hall. Present were Mayor Redepenninq, Counci~~w~hers Anderson, Hesch, Krit$ler and Maxwell. Also present were staff ~~~~ars Genellie, Stadler, Kerrigan and City Attorney Jerre Miller. I. CALL TO ORDER Mayor Redepenning called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Mayor Redepenning read a statement concerning Generation X. The owner has not complied with the city~s licensing requirements. If an application for a license is not forthcoming, the city intends to return to court, again, seeking legal r~ps~ies to close the store until the outcome of the trial settles the constitutionality questions. II. OPEN AGENDA There were no comments. III. PRESENTATION a. RASPBERRY FESTIVAL Gary Anderson and Sue McCarville of the Raspberry Festival Committee went over their plans for the upcoming Raspberry Festival. The Council thanked them for all of the work and all of the preparations that go into making a successful festival. b. CLINT BLOMQUIST DAY Mayor Redepenning read a proclamation honoring Clinton K. Blomquiat and declared that Sunday, June 25, 1995 is Clinton K. Blomquist Day. c. EARL JOHNSON - TONY SHAW AND JIM FREDRICKSON Chief of Police Earl Johnson and Sergeant Tony Hamlin honored Tony Shaw and Jim Fredrickson for their assistance ~.n capturing burglars at the scene of a recent break-in. Mayor Redepenning presented them with a citation of thanks from the Hopkins Police Department and the City of Hopkins. a. Ms. Gisborne is retiring as of • July 7, 1995. • ~ Counci~~~rer Hesch announced that an art forum would be held in the Raspberry room on June 28, 1995.' The forum will be .presented by Art Space; Inc. The public is invited and their input will be~welcome. •IV. The motion carried unanimously. vI. NEW suslNESs 8. CONSIDER ACTION - CURFEW ORDINANCE (Rpt. 95-106) Staff recommended that the Council adopt Ordinance No. 95- 679 for first reading. Adoption of the ordinance will begin the process of bringing the city~s curfew ordinance in line with the county wide curfew regulations. REPORTS - COMLKITTEES/COMMISSIONS Councilmember Hesch announced that a meeting of the Chemical Health Commission will meet concerning the Depot Place for teens on June 22, 1995 at the Family Center. Counci~~+~~r-r Maxwell stated that the Maetzold field grand opening was well attended and that everyone had a good time. He said that he had attended a meeting of the Jaycee's concerning smoking. The Jaycees have joined the fight against smoking. He also reminded the Council of the Lions Club dinner Thursday evening Mayor Redepenning announced that Musfc in the Park will begin Thursday night, JHne 22., 1995. VIII.
