engineer provided incorrect information to staff when
assessment notices and statements were being prepared and

Staff recoss~ended the follorinq motion: Kove to a~~~~s
Resolution No. 93-109 denying a sign variance at 426/430
~ainstraet.
The applicant, Nov Sports, recently had a sign painted on
the vest side of their building. This sign is 10~ x 15~,
which is is0 square feet. The sign is in violation of the
Zoning Ordinance. The Ordinance allo~rs a aaximum sign else
of 80 square feat in the B-3 district. Also, The
applicants sign painter did not secure a parait for th
sign.
Counciimamber Hasch stated that the sign looked nice and
asked if it could be considered a mural or grandfathered in
as it had been there before the side of the building vas
painted.

lam. Harmening informed her that after the building vas
painted that nothing had bean replaced for over a year and
that the sign coa^pany had not secured a sign perait,
therefore the sign is in violation of the ordinance. She
suggested that the sign policy should by looked into.
Don Roamer said that he also thought the sign looked nice.
He asked if it vas legal to use a sandwich type sign to
place outside the 1's~~~t door of businesses? He said that one
of the local Pawn Shops did this routinely.

Adoption of this notion will aaand the City~s Lawful

licensed organisation prior to renewing a ganblir:q license.

Recently, City staff and the Hennepin County Regional
Railroad Authority (owner of the depot) Here contacted by an
individual regarding the possible purchase and use of the
facility for a private purpose (in this case, a ssall
restaurant).

Fran 8esch reported on the Chemical Health Cowaission
inforainq the Council about the `-ask of November iZth to
19th being Minnesota Chemical Health Reek. The Commission
wants to spend $1300 for a banner, posters, for the local
businesses, postage and printing of flyers. M'r. Mielke
stated that $1300 vas rith budget and did not require
Council aY~oval.
Gene Maxwell said that the discussion at the Neighborhood
Advisory Board consisted of discussion on streets and
policy.
Council was inforaed that the first casting with the Arts
Board vas held and that a resolution to support the group
should be fosf•h~~inq.
Council reminded the public of Thursday night "Turn off the
Violence" catch and meeting.

The Mayor also reminded the public of the Fire Departments
open house on Saturday.
