Present were mayor Berg; Councilmembers; Chuck ltritaler, N~+unk Radapenninq, Bob Anderson and Jim Shirley. Hovewr, the City Council indicated that it vas interested in having staff develop soma kind of strategy or plan regarding the reuse of the landfill site. Staff indicated they would investigate that a~soach. ss. aseccssso~r - s~-s~sosc pta~re roc soo~o~sc City staff and the Council discussed the draft plan of the Strategic Plan for $conomic Davalopmsnt. Several items vets discussed as a part of this item including matters pertaining to the flexibility the City Council might have with respect to implementing the goals and action steps in the plan. it vas pointed out by staff that the Strategic Plan would be Councils planing document and the Council had the discretion in the future to modify the plan as it A-~sd a~ir~~ iate. However, staff pointed out to the Council that it is important at some pint to ay~..~ on a plan which it is comfortable with and ethich it can point at as the City~s economic davalopa^ant strategy. The City Council and staff discussed extensively the manner in which the Co~~c~cil should accept or adopt the plan. it vas agreed that the Council preferred the Strategic Planning Task ~v~~:e reco-asnd an entire plan prior to the Councils reviewing and modifying the document. it vas further agreed that after the plan had bean recommended to the City Council by the Task Forces, the City Council would accept the plan and than undertake a process of reviewing and modifying the plan as ft deemed a~ia~ iota.
