COUNCIL WORKSESS~ON

A Council Worksession was held on May, 1990 at 7:30 p. m. in the
Raspberry Room of City Hall. Present were Mayor Berg and
Councilmembers Kritzler, Redepenning, Anderson and Shirley. City
Manager Steve Mielke, Planning & Economic Development Director
Kerrigan, Housing Specialist Kathy Caouette and Administrative
Assistant for Special Projects, Kathy Bodmer, Building Inspector Tom
Anderson, and Park Supervisor Ray Vogtman
BUILDING INSPECTION DISCUSSION
The Council discussed building inspection practices and program
changes. Areas for further discussion were defined. Staff is to
schedule an additional discussion.
PARK BOARD MEETING
The Park Board and City Council met in a joint meeting to discuss the
park improyements planned for 1990 - 1992.
General discussion was held with regard to the timing and types of
improvements in the various parks according to the park bond issue.
DISCUSSION OF HOUSING IN HOPKINS
Staff presented its draft housing analysis along with recommendations.
The Council asked for a detailed graph showing the value of the houses
in Hopkins.
The staff will review the comments from this discussion and will set a
secondary meeting to discuss the recommendations.
BINGO DISCUSSION
The Council reviewed the issue of bingo in Hopkins and asked the staff
to investigate how this issue is handled in surrounding communities
and in communities which allow bingo halls as a primary use. This is
to be studied in conjunction with the other issues laid out in the
staff memorandum.
