COUNCIL WORKSESSION
July 10, 1990
A Council Worksession was held on July 10, 1990 at 5:00 p. m. in the
Raspberry Room of City Hall. Present were Mayor Berg and
Councilmembers Kritzler, Redepenning, Anderson and Shirley. Also
present were staff members: City Manager Steve Mielke, Community
Development Director Tom Harmening, Planning and Economic Development
Director Jim Kerrigan, Housing Specialist Kathy Caouette and Special
Projects Coordinator Kathy Bodmer.
HCP - MAINSTREET CONSTRUCTION/PROMOTION DISCUSSION
Dick Stanley, Hopkins Community Promotions Director, appeared before
the Council to present his plans for advertising the downtown during
the reconstruction project on the Mall. Council is concerned about
the possible disruption of business during reconstruction of the Mall
and wished to be assured that a plan to promote the downtown during
the reconstruction period is in place. The Council requested that HCP
continue to define the promotion campaign, and work to resolve
internal problems in their organization.
HOUSING POLICY DISCUSSION
Staff presented Council with its report called "Analysis of City of
Hopkins Plan/Policies". Discussion followed about what direction the
City should take with its housing programs. The question was raised
as to whether the housing programs should be expanded or kept at its
current level of service. The Council directed staff to provide them
with a list of the current programs from which they could discuss the
future of the City's housing program.
