2004-920 CITY OF HOPKINS Hennepin County, Minnesota ORDINANCE NO. 2004-920 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Hopkins as follows: That the Hopkins City Code Sections 515,07 and 535.03, Subd. 2, are hereby amended to add the following new subdivisions: 515.07 Subd, 42, Currency exchange Currency exchange means any person, except a bank, trust company, savings bank, savings and loan association, credit union, industrial loan and thrift company, who is engaged in the business of cashing checks, drafts, money orders or traveler's checks for a fee. Currency exchange does not include a person who provides their services incidental to the person's primary business if the charge for cashing a check or draft does not exceed one dollar ($1.00) or one percent of the value of the check or draft, whichever is greater, as defined in Minnesota Statutes, Section 53A.Ol Other uses listed in Section 515 are to be renumbered accordingly, 535.03, Subd, 2, EE, Currency exchange B-1 B-2 B-3 (2) XEE a. The use shall be located at least one thousand (1,000) feet from all existing currency exchanges, secondhand goods stores, pawnshops and missions, b. The use shall be located at least two hundred (200) feet from a residential or institutional district. c, The use shall be located at least three hundred fifty (350) feet from an off-sale liquor estab lishment. d. Back-lighted signs, back-lighted awnings, portable signs, temporary signs and freestanding signs shall be prohibited. e. The window and door area of any existing first floor fa<;ade that faces a public street or sidewalk shall not be reduced, nor shall changes be made to such windows or doors that block views into the building at eye level. f. For new construction, at least thirty (30) percent of the first floor facade that faces a public street or sidewalk shall be windows or doors of clear or lightly tinted glass that allows views into and out of the building at eye level. g.
