07-05-06 WSJuly 5, 2006 Page 1 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING Wednesday, July 5, 2006 Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 8:35 pm at the conclusion of the regular City Council meeting at City Hall. Council members present were Mayor Maxwell and Council members Thompson, Rowan, Halverson, and Youakim. City personnel present were City Manager Rick Getschow, and Police Chief Craig Reid. Blake Road Corridor Chief Reid provided correspondence on a neighborhood issue and an update on the recent activities in the Blake Road corridor. He emphasized the work that the City is doing in conjunction with the City of St. Louis Park police department, Three Rivers District, and his own investigations unit within the police department. Board and Commission Appointments Mayor Maxwell discussed potential future openings on the Park Board and Zoning and Planning Commission that would be occurring later this month. Other Mayor Maxwell provided the City Manager with correspondence from the City of St. Paul regarding the Mayor's statement on global warming. Council briefly discussed the brick program and the bench program in Downtown Park. • City Manager Getschow stated the strategic planning/goal setting session is set for Tuesday, July 25 in the Raspberry Room. City Manager Getschow provided a history of the Hennepin County assessing contract costs. • City Manager Getschow provided City Council with a memo from the Economic Development Director regarding the eminent domain that was used in the City of Minnetonka. There being no further business, a motion was made by Thompson, seconded by Halverson to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 9:20 pm.
