05-16-06 WSMay 16, 2006 Page 1 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING Tuesday, May 16, 2006 Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 8:00 pm at the conclusion of the regular City Council meeting at City Hall. Council members present were Mayor Maxwell and Council members Rowan, Thompson, Halverson, and Youakim. City personnel present were City Manager Rick Getschow. Cottageville Take Back the Park Event City Council members discussed their attendance and the activities that would occur at the Take Back the Park event in the Blake Road Corridor at Cottageville Park later that week. Dog Park City Manager Getschow updated the Council on the Park Board meeting the previous evening, where the Park Board hosted a neighborhood meeting to discuss the dog park. The Park Board will update the Council on the Dog Park status at the May 23 City Council work session. May 23 City Council Work Session Council discussed the GED graduation that will be occurring at the Hopkins Center for the Arts on May 23. The city will hold the work session at the Arts Center where the GED graduation is to be held. Eminent Domain Legislation City Manager Getschow stated that the Eminent Domain bill had passed the Legislature and was within hours or days of receiving final signature by the Governor. The City Manager stated that he believed that both the City's legislative representatives, Representative Simon and Senator Kelley, voted for the final bill. Hopkins School District Bus Depot City Manager Getschow stated that the city attorney and the school district's attorney are beginning negotiations for a bus lease. The city will most likely be asking for payment in lieu of taxes as rent in the lease, in addition to other requirements related to infrastructure and the city's bulk drop-off program. Twentieth Avenue Town Homes In response to a question by the Mayor, the City Manager stated that the street improvements that will be occurring in that part of the city do take into account the demolition of the townhomes and sale and future redevelopment at the site as single family homes. There being no further business, a motion was made by Halverson, seconded by Thompson to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 pm.
