10-04-05 WSOctober 4, 2005 Page 1 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING October 4, 2005 Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 9:25 pm at the conclusion of the regular City Council meeting at City Hall. Council members present were Mayor Maxwell and Council members Thompson, Brausen, Johnson, and Rowan. City personnel present were City Manager Rick Getschow; Jim Kerrigan, Planning and Economic Development Director; Ray Vogtman, Street, Sanitary, and Parks Superintendent North Annex Planning and Economic Development Director Kerrigan provided an update on the North Annex redevelopment project. Scanning Project Council member Brausen requested that City Clerk Obermaier provide a brief presentation at a future City Council meeting on the status of the successful scanning project. Rainstorms Street, Sanitation and Park Superintendent Ray Vogtman provided an update to the Council regarding the heavy rainfall and flooding that had occurred this same evening. Excelsior Boulevard Streetscape Council member Brausen requested that staff be sure to connect with business owners and businesses as it ~es to the Excelsior Boulevard streetscape project planned for 2006. Crime on Blake Road Council members expressed concern with the increased call activity in businesses and neighborhoods around Blake Road. The City Manager stated that staff will be proactive in addressing concerns and possibly discuss this issue specifically at a future work session. Lighting of Flags Council discussed a letter that was received regarding the lighting of flags. Public Works Director Stadler will provide further information on that issue. Additional Liquor Stores City Council reiterated that they would prefer not to see an application for an additional off-sale liquor establishment in the City of Hopkins at this time. There being no further business, a motion was made by Council member Johnson, seconded by Council member Thompson to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
