08-03-05 WSAugust 3, 2005 Page 1 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING August 3, 2005 Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 10:25 pm at the conclusion of the regular City Council meeting at City Hall. Council members present were Mayor Maxwell and Council members Thompson, Brausen, Johnson, and Rowan. City personnel present were City Manager Rick Getschow. Presidential Neighborhood North Council member Rowan stated that residents of Jackson Avenue North will be coming forward to request a Slow Child at Play sign and another overhead street light to the public works director. City Council Vacancy Council member Johnson discussed the possibility of relocating to another community. The Council discussed the process for filling a vacancy. Economic Development Update Council member Thompson asked for an update on the North Annex demolition. There was also a request for an update on the negotiations between Luther and Cornerstone for the Marketplace and Main development. Also, Council member Thompson requested information as it relates to the Hopkins Park Plaza potential relocation of tenants as part of a Block 64 project by GPS. Commercial Water Meter Study Council member Thompson requested an update on the commercial water meter study. City Manager Getschow stated that a report from the Finance Director will be coming forth within the next few weeks. Village Apartments Mayor Maxwell stated that the Village Apartments are requesting a used picnic table that the city may have or that the public works department may have and they are not using. Hopkins Health and Wellness Council member Brausen stated that Hopkins Health and Wellness maybe approaching Cornerstone to buy a portion of the property that they are redeveloping as Marketplace and Main, to purchase that property for potential redevelopment of their own. There being no further business, a motion was made by Council member Brausen, seconded by Council member Thompson to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
