07-19-05 WSJuly 19, 2005 Fage 1 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING July 19, 2005 Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 9:20 pm at the conclusion of the regular City Council meeting at City Hall. Council members present were Mayor Maxwell and Council members Thompson, Brausen, Johnson, and Rowan. City personnel present were City Manager Rick Getschow, and Public Works Director Steve Stadler. Shady Oak Road Project Public Works Director Steve Stadler stated that a petition was going to be provided to the City Council at the joint work session with Minnetonka from residents of 20"' Avenue North regarding the Shady Oak Road project. The petition will involve a favored concept by the residents of that area. SuperValu Trees Mayor Maxwell stated to Steve Stadler that there had been some calls received on the condition of the trees SuperValu transplanted from their property to the City park as a part of the SuperValu expansion project. There may be an issue with the trees needing to be watered. Mr. Stadler will follow up. Oaks of Hiawatha Mayor Maxwell stated that he had a discussion with Pat Isaak regarding Oaks of Hiawatha. City Manager Getschow stated that he had met with Pat Isaak this morning and the issue related to the resolution. An attorney's opinion regarding the Oaks being preserved into the future is being dealt with and should be resolved soon. Handicap Parking at the Elks Mayor Maxwell had asked if Mr. Stadler had followed up with the Elks regarding handicap parking spots for the Elks Lodge. Steve Stadler stated he had talked to the manager relating to this issue and .everything has been handled or resolved. Economic Development Projects Council member Johnson asked for and was provided with an update on the Summit and on the Town and Country Dodge properties. North Annex Property Council member Thompson asked for an update on the North Annex property. City Manager Getschow stated that Opus is very close to an agreement with SuperValu for the purchase of the property, which should then lead to the redevelopment agreement in the near future and hopefully, a demolition of the property soon after that. Block 64 Council member Thompson stated that he had hoped that questions that Brad Gunn had raised at the Council meeting tonight as it relates to Block 64 could be answered and answers provided to Mr. Gunn ~rior to the City Council meeting of July 26. City Manager Getschow stated that was the intent. July 19, 2005 Page 2 .Primary City Manager Getschow stated that the filing for School Board has closed. There were not enough applicants for the seat to require a primary. Therefore, there will not be a primary in the City of Hopkins; there will only be a general election for City Council and for School Board. There being no further business, a motion was made by Council member Thompson, seconded by Council member Maxwell to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
