07-2-07 WSJuly 2, 2007 Page 1 MINUTES OF THE CITY COiJNCIL WORK SESSION AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING Monday, July 2, 2007 Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 9:03 pm. Present were Mayor Maxwell and Council members Halverson, Thompson, Rowan and Youakim. City personnel present were City Manager Rick Getschow, City Engineer John Bradford, and City Attorney Wynn Curtiss. Pending Litigation Motion by Halverson seconded by Youakim for City Council to enter into a closed session to discuss pending litigation against the city related to the property on 21St Avenue North. City Council discussed pending litigation with a property owner on 21St Avenue North against the city as it is related to the city's right-of way. Motion by Rowan, seconded by Halverson or Council to move back into an open session at 9:35 pm. Other City Manager Getschow updated the Council on the recently revised sign ordinance and the allowable uses for electronic signs. Council member Rowan stated that he talked with a resident that would like to see the City implement animal control for cats in the City. Mayor Maxwell stated the issue was studied a while back. City Manager Getschow will find that background information and provide it to the Council. Mayor Maxwell stated that he is being asked to provide names of persons to be appointed to a Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) for the SWLRT. He will attempt to get representation from the community and the current Boards and Commissions. Their first meeting is at the end of July. Mayor Maxwell provided the City Manager will some information on participating in a Red Cross emergency preparedness initiative. There being no further business, a motion was made by Halverson, seconded by Youakim to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 10:10 pm.
