RESOLUTION 2007-053
RESOLUTION APPOINTING RICK BRAUSEN TO FILL CITY COUNCIL VACANCY
WHEREAS, Council Member Jay Thompson was elected to a four-year term as a
Council Member of the City of Hopkins on November 4, 2003, and;
WHEREAS, Council Member Jay Thompson resigned from that position on July 27,
2007, and;
WHEREAS, There are four months remaining on Council Member Thompson's
term, and;
WHEREAS, The City of Hopkins declared a vacancy on the City Council on August
6, 2007, and;
WHEREAS, Section 2.05 of the Charter of the City of Hopkins provides that the City
Council shall appoint a person to fill the vacancy when a resignation occurs with less than
two years remaining in the unexpired term, and the appointed person shall serve until the
qualification of a successor.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Hopkins appoints Rick
Brausen to fill the vacancy that was created with the resignation of Jay Thompson.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Hopkins this 21St day of August 2007.
