2019-020 Amending City Code Section 1020.13 for Refuse Fees CITY OF HOPKINS

RESOLUTION AMENDING CITY CODE SECTION 1020.13 FOR REFUSE FEES
WHEREAS, city code section 1020.13 lists the specific County and State taxes applied to refuse
charges; and
WHEREAS, Hennepin County is raising their tax rate to 15.5% effective April 1, 2019; and
WHEREAS, the taxes charged to Hopkins refuse customers need to be adjusted to reflect the in-
crease; and
WHEREAS, it would be prudent to change the city code section 1020.13 to state "applicable
County and State taxes" will be applied to eligible refuse charges; and
WHEREAS, Hennepin County charges the City of Hopkins $50.00 each for mattresses, box
springs and hide-a-beds; and
WHEREAS, city code section 1020.13 currently lists the charge for mattresses, box springs and
hide-a-beds as $25.00 each; and
WHEREAS, the charges for mattresses, box springs and hide-a-beds need to be adjusted to re-
flect actual costs; and
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hopkins, Min-
nesota, that the City Council accepts the following amended city code section 1020.13:
