MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Tuesday, October 7, 2008
Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 8:30 pm. Present were Mayor Maxwell and Council
members Halverson, Brausen, Rowan, Youakim and City Manager Rick Getschow
Other:
Council member Brausen asked City Manager Getschow to check on an area where a tree was removed
at 11th and 4t"~ North. Weeds have since grown in the area where the tree was removed and may need
some City attention. City Manager Getschow will follow-up.
Council member Brausen asked about the Affordable Auto property at 17t" and Main. He asked if there
are any plans for redevelopment of that site. He also inquired about the current parking or storage of
cars that occurs there.
Mayor Maxwell stated that if possible it would be nice to get crime prevention tips and information on
the City cable channel. City Manager Getschow stated that with the upgrades coming within the next
few months that may now be possible. Council member Youakim also added that it would be good to
get information out to all the neighborhood associations about crime prevention.
City Manager Getschow talked about several different meetings that were occurring related to SW LRT.
There are currently meetings being held throughout the entire Southwest metro about the entire line
from Minneapolis to Eden Prairie that are a part of the draft environmental impact statement. There are
also City meetings that are occurring through a Hennepin County grant regarding only the Hopkins
stations. There will be open houses regarding the Hopkins stations in the near future.
• City Manager Getschow reminded the City Council that the Employee Recognition luncheon is on
Wednesday, October 22nd
• City Manager Getschow stated that the Citizen Academy Alumni event is now scheduled for Thursday
evening October 30t"
With no further business, a motion was made by Brausen, seconded by Youakim to adjourn the meeting. The
motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 pm.
