A RESOLUTION APPROVING SECOND READING OF ORDINANCE
N0.99- 837, AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE INTERIM ORDINANCE
REGULATING AND RESTRICTING THE DEMOLITION
OR REMOVAL OF SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS
AND STRUCTURES WITHIN THE CITY OF HOPHINS
WHEREAS, on December 15, 1998, the City Council of the City of Hopkins approved the
second reading of Ordinance No. 98-821, which is an Interim Ordinance placing a moratorium on
the demolition or removal of any single family building or structure located within certain zoning
districts as established by the Hopkins Official Zoning Map. The Interim Ordinance will terminate
on February 2, 2000.
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the term of Ordinance No. 98-821 must
® be extended for an additional six months, ending August 1, 2000, for the purpose of protecting the
planning process while the City Council completes its evaluation of the Planning Study prepared
pursuant to Section 2 of the Interim Ordinance and determines whether it is necessary to amend the
City's existing ordinances, regulations and official controls or adopt new ordinances relating to and
regulating the demolition or removal of single family residential structures and buildings located
within the City.
WHEREAS, the "Background and Findings" contained in Section 1 of Ordinance No. 98-821
and in Section 1 of Ordinance No. 99- 837 remain in existence and continue to be applicable, and
are hereby approved and incorporated in this Resolution in their entirety.
WHEREAS, the City Council has approved the second reading of Ordinance No. 99- g37.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 99-837 will not be effective until twenty (20) days after its

NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Hopkins, Minnesota, hereby adopts the
following Resolutions:
RESOLVED, that the second reading of Ordinance No. 99-837 is hereby adopted and
approved, said Ordinance is hereby enacted by the City Council of the City of Hopkins, and
publication of such Ordinance is hereby ordered.
