1999-084CITY OF HOPKINS, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION N0.99-84 TRANSIT IMPROVEMENTS STUDY WHEREAS, the City of Hopkins has been actively participating in a transit improvements study with Metro Transit and the adjacent communities of St. Louis Park and Minnetonka to enhance transit connections within their communities and provide reverse commute services for employees from outside their communities; and WHEREAS, the City of Hopkins has made substantial commitments in creating ' and enhancing its community-wide transit services; and WHEREAS, the City of Hopkins believes that improved transit service is a critical factor in reducing congestion, ensuring economic vitality, and meeting the demands of changing travel patterns; and __ WHEREAS, the City of Hopkins has worked with Metro Transit to develop -major proposed improvements to the existing transit network in Hopkins, St. Louis Park and Minnetonka; and WHEREAS, the proposed improvements meet the service goals and criteria established by Transit Redesign; and WHEREAS, the proposed major improvements are designed to reduce congestion, improve air quality, enhance economic vitality and meet the demands of changing travel patterns; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HOPKINS, that the City of Hopkins supports and is actively participating with Metro Transit in their application for Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) program funds to implement major transit improvements for residents, employers and employees of Hopkins and the immediate subregion.
