1997-104 CITY OF HOPKINS HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION 97-104 A RESOLUTION STATING THE CITY COUNCIL'S INTENT TO ADDRESS STORM WATER AND SANITARY SEWER AREAS OF CONCERN WHEREAS, the City of Hopkins has experienced storm and sanitary sewer flooding in several areas of the City; and WHEREAS, the July 1997 storms brought this issue to the attention of the City Council; and WHEREAS, it is the duty of the City of Hopkins to provide for and maintain the sanitary sewage and storm water systems; and WHEREAS, eight areas of the City have been identified as having experienced problems during the July, 1997 storms; and WHEREAS, the City Council and City staff have already initiated tasks necessary to fully analyze and determine the root of the problems surrounding these flooding events (memo attached); and WHEREAS, the Council is responsible for assuring the taxpayers of Hopkins that they are spending public funds in the most cost efficient and effective manner; and WHEREAS, the studies and investigations currently in place will identify needed improvements to the storm water and sanitary sewer systems. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, based on all of the above, the City Council of the City of Hopkins, hereby resolves that it will implement improvements to the sanitary sewer and storm water systems that will improve the conditions in the identified areas to the extent possible by implementing the attached plan of action without endangering other areas of the City.
