RESOLUTION 96-28
RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT--
COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER
WHEREAS, the City Council has been supportive of an effort to construct a
community arts facility in the City of Hopkins; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has previously been on record in support of using
community resources for the construction of this center; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has conducted extensive studies, hearings, and
discussions in analyzing the effects of a community arts center in downtown Hopkins.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it hereby resolved by the City Council of the City of
Hopkins, Minnesota:
1. The Council reaffirms its commitment to the construction of a community arts
center;
a) on the North side of the Suburban Chevrolet site,
b) at a cost of $3.5 million
c) with the City's commitment of $1.5 million to be used for construction,
d) the donation of the land, valued at $300,000,
e) the State of Minnesota's grant of $500,000.
2. The Council endorses a community fund raising effort and a commitment to
cooperate with a fund raising committee to raise the needed funds.
