RESOLUTION NO: 93-138
RESOLUTION MAKING FINDINGS OF FACT AND
APPROVING SIGN VARIANCES AT 1300 MAINSTREET
WHEREAS, an application for a variance VN93-7, made by st. Joseph
Church to allow them to erect two 4' X 6' signs on the site is hereby
approved.
WHEREAS, the procedural history of the application is as follows:
1.
That an application for a variance VN93-7 was filed with the
City of Hopkins on October 11, 1993.
That the Hopkins Planning Commission, pursuant to mailed
notices, held a meeting on the application and reviewed such
application on November 30, 1993: all persons present were
given an opportunity to be heard.
That the written comments and analysis of the City staff and
the Planning commission were considered.

The legal description of the pr9perty is as follows:
Commencing at the intersection of south line of Excelsior
Avenue and the east line of southwest 1/4 of southwest 1/4
thence west along said south line 270 feet thence south 350
feet thence east parallel with said south line of Excelsior
Avenue to east line of southwest 1/4 of southwest 1/4 thence
north to beginning.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the application for variance
VN93-7 is hereby approved based on the following Findings of Fact:
1. That the subject property has an undue hardship because
of the way the buildings are situated on the site.
2. That the subject property is unique because it is
surrounded by buildings that restrict the visibility of
the applicant's property.
3. The subject property's proximity to other commercial
properties presents a unique situation which makes the
signage requirements for the property difficult to achieve
or out of character for the area.
