CITY OF HOPKINS
RESOLUTION NO. 91-74
AUTHORIZING IMPLEMENTATION OF
A SOLID WASTE SOURCE REDUCTION PLAN FOR
ALL CITY BUILDINGS
WHEREAS, Hennepin County has resolved that reduction of
the amount of solid waste generated is the highest priority
in the hierarchy of waste management techniques; and
WHEREAS, Hennepin County has resolved that source
reduction of solid waste can be accomplished by governmental
agencies and institutions as well as by individuals and
businesses; and
WHEREAS, Hennepin County has through Resolution number
90-8-732 required that each municipality adopt a plan for
source reduction of solid waste and submit it as part of the
1991 recycling grant application in order to receive
funding,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of
Hopkins, City Council adopts and implements the Solid Waste
Source Reduction Plan dated June 1, 1991 and included as
Attachment A, made part of this Resolution; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Hopkins, City
Council directs the City Manager and all Department heads
and employees to incorporate source reduction of solid waste
into their daily activities and directs the Recycling
Coordinator to moni tor, assist educate and evaluate the
program and report back to the County on the resul ts of
implementation.
