1990-069 c T Y o F HOP K RESOLUTION 90-69 N S WHEREAS: _ The Hennepin County Board of Comm~ssioners has voted not to extend the contract for Fairview Receiving and Evaluation Center beyond May 31, 1990, and - One suburban facility does not have adequate capacity to serve the needs of the suburban commun~ties, and - The distance of the Plymouth and Minneapolis facilities present time and personnel problems, and - The community relies on Fairview Receiv~ng and Evaluation Center to provide safe detox~f~cat~on for ~nebr~ated persons, and - Intoxicated people who cannot be admitted to a detox~ficat~on center present a threat and danger to the safety and tranqu~lity of the community, and - The roll of detox ~s to provide early intervent~on and prevent~on of harm to others, and - The south suburban commun~ties of Hennep~n County have the latgest populat~on and rece~ve the lowest level of detoxification serv~ces, and - The C~ty of Hopkins understands the need for certa~n Hennep~n County Budget Cuts; NOWj THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED. That the Hopkins C~ty Counc~l asks the Hennepin County Board of Comm~ssioners to cont~nue the fund~ng for detoxificat~on services w~th the Fa~rv~ew Rece~v~ng and Evaluat~on Center in Eden Prairie, but that this fund~ng be done so that the available funds for all Hennepin County Detox Centers are distributed on a pro rata basis.
