RESOLUTION NO. 89-40
A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE HOPKINS PlRE DEPARTMENT FOR BEING
NAMED "FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE YEAR" IN 1989"
WHEREAS, The Hopkins Fire Department has consistently demonstrated a high level of skill and
professionalism, and
WHEREAS, the Hopkins Fire Department is highly respected throughout the community and the
State of Minnesota, and
WHEREAS, the Hopkins Fire Department maintains one of the highest levels of training of any
Fire Department in the State of Minnesota, and
WHEREAS, the Hopkins Fire Department has developed an outstanding fire education program
used in Hopkins public, parochial and private schools, and
WHEREAS, the Hopkins Fire Department's annual open house during National Fire Prevention
Week brings together over 2,000 residents from all parts of the community, and
WHEREAS, members of the Hopkins Fire Department donate nearly 600 hours each year to the
Hopkins Raspberry Festival, assuring public safety, and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department did an exceptional job coordinating fire, rescue and medical
service during the July 23, 1987 storm in order to protect the welfare of the residents of
Hopkins, and
WHEREAS, the Hopkins Fire Department was named "FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE YEAR"
in 1989, for its many significant accomplishments and outstanding community service,
then,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Hopkins hereby
wishes to express pride in the accomplishments of the Fire Department and
congratulate all the members of the Department for their contributions, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution signed by the Mayor, City Council
and City Manager be presented to the Fire Department, as an expressIon of the City's
