RESOLUTION NO. 87-40
A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE IMPOSITION OF A STATE SALES TAX ON
LOCAL GOVERNMENT PURCHASES
WHEREAS, Governor Perpich has proposed that cities,
counties, schools and other political subdivisions pay state
sales tax on their purchasesi and
WHEREAS, the City of Hopkins and other taxing districts
will be required to increase future property tax levies to
o
pay for the sales taxi
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HOPKINS:
1. That the Hopkins City Council opposes the
imposition of a state sales tax on the city and other local
taxing districts, and
2. The the City Manager be directed to forward this
resolution to our legislators, and Governor Perpich.
