1987-051 RESOLUTION NO: 87-51 o CITY OF HOPKINS HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION MAKING FINDINGS OF FACT AND APPROVING APPLICATION FOR VARIANCE VN87-4 WHEREAS, an application for a Variance entitled VN87-4 has been made by Midwest Auto Malls to allow more signage than permitted at the northeast corner of County Road #3 and 11th Avenue South. o WHEREAS, the procedural history of the application is as follows: 1. That an application for Variance VN87-4 was filed with the City of Hopkins on May 1, 1987. 2. That the Hopkins Planning Commission reviewed such application on May 26, 1987. 3. That the Hopkins Planning Commission, pursuant to mailed notices, held a public hearing on May 26, 1987; all persons present at the hearing were given an opportunity to be heard. 4. That the written comments and analysis of the City Staff and the Planning Commission were considered. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Hopkins City Council makes the following Findings of Fact in respect to VN87-4: 1. That a hardship exists due to the shape of the property 2. That a hardship exists because of the amount of frontage the site has. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that application for Variance VN87-4 is hereby approved, in part, by allowing the total sign area to be no more than 1144 square feet, but that all individual signs meet the requirements of the sign ordinance, subject to the following conditions: o 1. That no temporary signs are used including tempera paint on the windows. 2. That the businesses will have uniform signage. 3. That 3 foot letters be allowed for fascia signs if both upper and lower case lettering is used, and 2 foot letters if only upper case is used. Adopted this 2nd day of June, 1987. Ellen Lavin, Mayor o
