RESOLUTION NO. 2012-013
RESOLUTION APPROVING CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS AND AUTHORIZING
ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS 2012 STREET AND UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS
CITY PROJECT NO. 2011-10
WHEREAS, pursuant to a resolution of the City Council adopted the 17th day of January
2012, construction documents were developed for improvements along Minnetonka Mills Road;
3rd and 4th Streets North; 6th, 8th and 91h Avenues North; the alley between 5th and 6th Avenues
North and 2nd and 3rd Streets North; and the alley between Mainstreet and 1St Street South
between 8th and 9th Avenues South; including bituminous pavement, concrete pavement, concrete
curb and gutter, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water system improvements and all necessary
appurtenances, and
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for City Project No. 2011-10 have been prepared by
Bolton & Menk, Inc, and have been presented to Council for approval, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Hopkins,
Minnesota:
1. Such construction documents, a copy of which are attached hereto and made a part
hereof, are hereby approved and ordered placed on file in the office of the City Clerk.
2. The City Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted in the official paper and in
Finance and Commerce an advertisement for bids upon the making of such
improvement under such approved plans and specifications. The advertisement shall
be published three times, at least three weeks before date set for bid opening, shall
specify the work to be done, shall state that bids will be received by the clerk until
11:00 a.m., on the 11 th day of April, 2012, at the City Hall and that no bids shall be
considered unless sealed and filed with the clerk and accompanied by a certified
check or bid bond, payable to the City of Hopkins, Minnesota for 5% of the amount
of such bid.
3. The clerk and city engineer are hereby authorized and instructed to receive, open, and
read aloud bids received at the time and place herein noted, and to tabulate the bids
received. The Council will consider the bids and award of contract at the regular City
Council meeting of May 15, 2012 in the Council Chambers.
