SERVICES PLANNING BOARD WHEREAS, this City Council is in 'u1. support of the activities and leadership provided by the We ennepin Human Services Planning Board; and, WHEREAS, this Council feels that 'hee activities have had a positive impact on the devel opmen u arid delivery of human servi ces in our community; and, WHEREAS, this planning activity h:s een delegated to Hennepin County by state legislation and h.s een responsibly and effectively carried out through cammvanity planning boards; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of City of • Hopkins , t a 1. This Council recommends that srong human services planning board be maintained; 2. That the most appropriate fun'ing mechanism is through Hennepin County; and 3. That this Council urges the Cuuny Board to continue funding as they have in the past. Min esote 55416 920 -5633 TO: West Hennepin Municipal Official - FROM: Marcy Shapiro, Director, WHHS RE: Funding of Community Planning Bo-rds On January 23rd, the Executive Committers of Northwest Hennepin Human Services Council, South Hennepin Human 'ervices Council and West Hennepin Human Services Planning Board et to discuss the three area meetings that were held with the County Commissioners regarding the proposed County Board resolution concer ing the funding of community planning boards. The Joint Executive Committees felt tha it was the general opinion in all three areas that a similar resolution should be introduced in all the councils of the member municipalities and that this resolution take the form of the enclosed resolution. It was felt that this joint effort of a large number of municipalities passing a similar resolution would have the strongest impact on the County Board. The content of the enclosed resolution as developed out of the opinions expressed by municipal officials in three area meetings with the Commissioners. We would appreciate this resolution being introduced to your council for discussion. Tracy Whitehead, Chairperson of the WHHS Board, your municipal representatives to the WHHS Board, the WHHS staff, or I can provide information about the background on this issue, action that has been taken, this resolution and futu e action anticipated. We would also appreciate it if you could send copies to all of the County Commissioners, if your council passes this resolution. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
