08-06-2012 WS after CC mtgMINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING Monday, August 6, 2012 Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 9:20 P.M. Present at the meeting were: x Ma or Maxwell x C ty Manager Mike Mornson x Council Member Jason Gadd x Council Member Cheryl Youakim x Council Member Kristi Halverson x Council Member Molly Cummings Council member Jason Gadd stated that the Yellow Ribbon kick-off is September 11, 2012 at the Hopkins VFW which is located at 100 Shady Oak Road. It will be from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Council member Molly Cummings stated that she will attend the CAP meeting on Tuesday. Council member Kristi Halverson stated that cars are being broken into in the presidential neighborhood just like in the Interlachen neighborhood. She stated that she would like police to have a neighborhood meeting. Mayor Maxwell discussed National Night Out. He stated that he will be at City Hall at 4:45 pm on Tuesday, August 7th, 2012. City Manager Mike Mornson stated the budget work session will be next Monday, August 13th at 6:30 pm. City Manager Mike Mornson stated that Kersten is currently working on RFP for the consultant for Art Street. City Manager Mike Mornson thanked staff for doing a great job on the Safety Camp that was held on July 26, 2012. There were 120 third graders that attended. City Manager Mike Mornson stated that Oaks Park open house is August 8th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and August 11th, 2012 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. City Manager Mike Mornson stated that Hennepin County is working with staff on the right-of- way and community works agreement for Shady Oak Road. City Manager Mike Mornson stated that the Rotary is working with Steve Stadler and the Parks Commission on improvements to Burnes Park. City Manager Mike Mornson stated that on August 13th Hennepin County will be starting an over lay on Excelsior Blvd. starting at Blake Road. Page 2 City Manager Mike Mornson stated John Schultz is asking for a joint meeting with the City Council for October 25th at the school. City Manager Mike Mornson congratulated Christine Harkess for wining a budget award for the City of Hopkins. City Manager Mike Mornson stated that the daycare re-applied at the retail center off Shady Oak Road next to Dunn Brothers. City Manager Mike Mornson stated that the proposed owner of the BP site would like to have special planning commission meeting and council meetings on October 22, 2012 for planning and October 23, 2012 for Council. Director of Planning, Kersten Elverum provided an update on the Lite Rail Station planning that will be coming up soon with Met Council Staff. There being no further business Council member Youakim moved and Council Member Cummings seconded a motion to adjourn.
